Here is why you can enjoy this delicious slice without feeling guilty or sluggish after:

Almonds are very high in vitamin E and thus are your perfect natural moisturiser and help to create glowing, supple skin. They also contain lots of other minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper, folate, manganese and magnesium and are a real power-house of health.

Cinnamon can help to lower and control blood sugar, it has anti-inflammatory properties and helps to boost your metabolism.

Medjool dates are a healthy sugar replacement and instead of just piling empty calories onto your plate, they are a great source of potassium, copper, manganese and the vitamins B6, niacin and pantothenic acid. All of those nutrients play important roles in the health of your skin, digestive and nervous system. Dates are also high in fibre which helps you to feel full quicker and stay satiated for longer which helps you not to overeat and is exactly what I – and I am guessing you too – want when tucking into your favourite dessert.

Cacao powder is loaded with flavonoids which is a powerful natural antioxidant with benefits that range from fighting signs of ageing, to boosting cardiovascular health and fighting cancer. It is also rich in magnesium which helps to boost energy and metabolism. In addition, it is a great source of sulphur which keeps your nails strong and your hair shiny. Best of all cacao is a natural mood enhancer and aphrodisiac…

Virgin coconut oil helps with weight loss. It contains short and medium chain fatty acids which are not stored as fat like other fats do but instead are used to produce energy. Virgin coconut oil is known to increase the body’s metabolic rate and to keep the blood sugar in check by improving insulin secretion. And if this all was not already enough reason to use good quality coconut oil in your cooking, there is more:  it also boosts your immune system because it is rich in lauric acid, caprylic acid and antimicrobial lipids which have antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties.
