Not enough time to nurture your precious body with exercise? No worries, find out how you can achieve great results in a very short amount of time with high intensity interval training.

If you are like me, always short of time and feel like you just don’t have enough hours in your day, then this high intensity workout is the perfect match for you. I love this way of training because it is just so highly effective; not only does it only take 20-30 min out of your day but it also brings you those results that you are after: improved cardiovascular fitness over a relatively short period of time, fat loss, which leads to a  fabulously toned body that reverses the aging process.

So what is it that makes this form of working your gorgeous body so different and so much more efficient than more conventional forms of training? One huge advantage of HIIT is that it increases your total amount of oxygen consumption after your workout for up to 24 hours which means you are improving your aerobic fitness over a much shorter period of time than you would with by going for a run.  In doing so it is also keeping your resting metabolism elevated for up to 24 hours post workout. As a consequence you are also boosting your total number of calories that you are burning. And who does not love the thought of burning calories whilst resting 🙂

Even more exciting is the fact that HIIT has proven to also be the most effective way to burn fat without losing your hard earned muscles. This is because in short bouts of high intensive activity you are stimulating your fast-twitching muscle fibres which help to build and maintain muscle mass.

Another great advantage of interval training is that you can do it anywhere and that it is so very versatile. You can do bouts of jump-roping, biking or weights or just go plain and only use your beautiful body and do sprints or plyometrics. So tell me how much more convenient can it get?

Want an icing on the cake? In addition research shows that HIIT stimulates production of your human growth hormone (HGH) which is not only responsible for caloric burn but also slows down the aging process, making you look younger both inside and out :-). And because your bouts of activity are so short you can challenge yourself much more so I promise you that you will definitely not find yourself getting bored. But instead before you know it, your workout will be over :-).

So next time you are thinking about jumping on your treadmill for an hour or so, you might want to contemplate a 20 minute HIIT session instead :-).
